- Stan Shuetrium founded St George Appliances in his backyard in Bexley, Sydney in 1947.
- A weider by trade, Stan hit upon the idea of manufacturing and selling ovens to create employment opportunities for members of his family.
- Together with his brother Bob, they applied their trade selling ovens from the back of their truck in the streets of the Sutherland Shire of Sydney.
